The Wildlife

Mediterranean Thigh Backed Tortoise

"Terry" is a mediterranean thigh backed tortoise and is wild and protected. I found him one day trying to get under my gate. I have not seen him since but I am sure that he lives in the orange groves below me. He looks quite a happy chap and I am sure that he is smiling at me!

The Jinetta

As well as Terry I have seen a wild cat very, very shy of humans and incredibly quick she is called "Jenny" the Jinetta. She is a cross between a cat and a fox about fox sized with a very distinctive bushy tail. She will probably be feeding off the rabbits which are in abundance in the orange groves.

The Robin

This small Robin sized bird had become quite tame and used to roost by my front door. I could nearly touch him and he was unperturbed when I opened and shut the front door.

The Goatherder

The gentle jingling of bells below the lounge terrace revealed the following sight.............a goatherder and dog with approx 40 goats in the orange groves below.
